Aramisova

Biography

Aramisova, or La Aramisova, real name Vladimír Mičúch, was a Slovak director, screenwriter, musician and journalist. He studied civil engineering at the University of Žilina, but never pursued a career in the profession. Instead, he began to establish himself on the local cultural scene – he was in the bands Divné stavy and Charmsové děti. He founded and was the editor-in-chief of the art magazine “Panic Button”. In 2002–2003, he made the short films Ďalší mladý muž and Eutanázia. For the entrance exams to FAMU, he made the film Vlky a líšky. He was accepted to FAMU for the third time at the age of 35. While studying there (in the workshop of Věra Chytilová and Jasmina Blažević), he made a number of short and successful films. His film Cagey Tigers was shown at the Cannes Film Festival, and his next film Čo sme robili predtým ako sme šli spolu na kakako was nominated for the Magnesia Award for Best czech Student Film. However, he did not manage to make his feature debut. He died suddenly after an epileptic seizure in June 2015. He left behind a partner and a daughter. In his honor, the award for the best first-year film at the FAMUFEST festival bears his nickname – the Aramis Award.
