Choi Hancho
Biography
Choi Hancho is a Korean writer and director. She began her career as a broadcast writer at KBS and went on to write and direct commercial musicals and plays, staging more than twenty original productions in Korea, China and the UK. She has fronted the indie rock band JinDalRae since 2012, releasing three albums and playing some 300 live shows. She later moved into advertising, planning, co-directing, scripting and composing music for brand films for Hyundai, Genesis, Kia and Samsung; her Hyundai Mobis film won Gold at the Korea Advertising Awards and the IONIQ 5 campaign won Gold from the Korea Advertising Society. She holds an MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London, where she completed the final edit of her first feature, Die in Seoul (서울두더지), which won a Silver Remi Award in the student (graduate) division at the 57th WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival in 2024.
